Cirilia Rose

Cirilia is a member of the Berroco Design team. The yarn world lured her away from      graduate work that was very much related to the issues affecting knitwear designers: aesthetics, cultural pastiche and consumerism. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island and  enjoys visiting friends all over the world.

Classes with Cirilia - all classes will take place in the Cottrell Building

Knit Different

This course aims to introduce knitters to the myriad ways there are to make a knit and a purl stitch. We’ll discuss which methods are best for which kinds of knitting and knitters and I will demonstrate and instruct styles that each knitter might want to gain familiarity with. At the very least I will hopefully get throwers to try picking and pickers to try throwing, and to introduce two-handed colour work.

Design with Confidence

Designing knitwear involves technical knowledge, knitting skill and artistic vision, but beyond that it requires confidence. This course will be a discussion of what it takes to articulate your goals as a designer. Lecture and discussion will take place in the morning and the afternoon will be devoted to hands-on activity: construction of a mood board, croquis and specs, and if time allows, swatching and preliminary planning.
