Gudrun Johnston was born in the Shetland Islands and grew up all over Scotland. Traditional Shetland knitting greatly influences Gudrun’s work, although she gives it a thoroughly modern twist. Her work has been published in Twist Collective, Knitty, Knit on the Net, Knitscene. She self publishes on her blog. Gudrun is also an accomplished photographer and fully qualified yoga teacher. The Aestlight Shawl and traditional Shetland shawl constructionIn this class you will explore the traditional Shetland shawl construction. You will cover seamless techniques, knitting in the round, simple lace, attaching a lace edging and a look at the history behind these beautiful heirloom pieces. When: Tuesday, 9.30 - 5.00 Level: Intermediate plus Class Skills: Must be proficient with circular needles Cost: £76 Class Length: 6 hours Homework: To be e-mailed to you 4-6 weeks before Knit Camp. Project class: The Crofter's Cowl (AB+)This is something that could actually be completed in a day by many knitters. This class will introduce a simple lace pattern and will look in depth at grafting/kitchener stitch.
