  La digitessa: the taming of the shrew

She is demanding. She certainly has a will of her own. We shall tame her!  We will discuss the construction of this sock and make a tiny version.  A special workshop pattern will be provided.  

 

When: Tuesday, 9.30 - 12.30

Level:  Intermediate plus

Class Skills:    Knitters should be experienced sock knitters and  should be comfortable with turning short rows, twisted or travelling stitches, knitting in the round, and chart reading.

Cost: £40

Class Length:  3 hours         

Homework: Please make a stocking stitch toe with a total count of 34 stitches.  Marjan suggests you use a smooth sock yarn for clear stitch definition.  Please make sure you read over the pattern, which will be made available to you 4-6 weeks before Knit Camp, so you can get familiar with the contents of this class.

Please bring with you:

Circular needles 80 or 100 cm – 2.00 mm and 2.50 mm
You can also use 2 circular needle(s) or set(s) double-point needles or size to obtain gauge

Spice-baby: a Yarnissima sock in a nutshell

When: Tuesday, 2.00 - 5.00 and Thursday, 2.00 - 5.00

Level:  Intermediate plus

Class Skills:    Comfortable with knitting in the round and should have knit at least two pairs of socks

Zum Dirdnl: a marriage between innovation and tradition

A traditional Bavarian stocking, Zum Dirndl is knit toe-up on a circular needle.  We will discuss the construction of this sock and make a tiny version.

 

When: Wednesday, 9.30 - 12.30

Level:  Advanced plus

Class Skills:    Experienced sock knitters only.  Students should be experienced sock knitters and be comfortable with turning short rows, twisted or travelling stitches, knitting in the round and chart reading.

Class Length:  3 hours         

Bring with you:

2.25mm or 2.5mm circular needles, 80 cm  or 100 cm in length

Smooth white sock yarn for clear stitch definition

Zur Lederhos’n: the Bavarians want a stocking - NOW!

 

Now, Zur Lederhos’n is a sock.  Let’s make it into a stocking - together- using the exisiting pattern.  This is a design class where you’ll learn how to lengthen a sock to fit well.  Together you’ll explore the possibilities and challenges regarding the leg and the calf section.  You’ll use knitting software, your imagination and your mathematic skills.  The results will be a pattern which we will publish afterwards.

 

When: Thursday, 9.30 - 12.30

Level:  Advanced plus

Class Skills: Students should be experienced sock knitters and be comfortable with twisted or travelling stitches, knitting in the round and chart reading.

Sottopassagio:  the clash between theory and reality

Worked from the toe up on 1 or 2 circular needles, but easily adapted for magic loop or DPNs.
