Jewelry and knitwear designer Rosemary (Romi) Hill is the owner of Designs by Romi, selling handmade shawl pins and sweater closures. In 2006, she began designing knit jewelry and lace. Her patterns have appeared in Knitty, Twist Collective, Interweave Knits, and Living Crafts. Interweave Press published her book: "Elements of Style: Knit + Crochet Jewelry with Wire, Fiber Felt + Beads" in December, 2008.

Intro to knitted and crocheted jewelry

students will be introduced to techniques from my book, "Elements of Style: Knit + Crochet Jewelry with Wire, Fiber, Felt + Beads," as well as being able to see projects in person. All materials provided.

Intro to knitting/crocheting with wire

students will be introduced to wire and learn which wire to use, as well as good tips and tricks. We will swatch wire with different needles and hooks and then, at the end of the class, ball up the swatches and make them into a necklace from my book. All materials provided.

Bauble Beaded Bracelet Project class

We will go through choosing beads and stringing them for this popular project from Knitty.com. Students will get to swatch with a length of beaded elastic and learn how to graft the bracelet together when finished.

Bijouterie

This super popular project from Knitty.com had many people trying wire knitting for the first time! Students will swatch with wire and then we will cast on for this fun instant gratification project, learning tricks to working with wire as we go along. Materials included.

Summer Leaves Scarf Necklace

Knitted with Habu merino/stainless steel thread and beads, this scarf necklace appeared in Living Crafts magazine. If you have never knit with this amazing material, this is a great project to try! We will swatch and then cast on for this fun project.

Basic wire working skills for knitters

Never worked with wire before? That shouldn't stop you from knitting with it! Students will learn how to use some basic tools to add the findings (clasps, earring wires, etc) that make a piece look beautifully finished. Materials included.
